Complementary Therapist in York

My name is Corinne Brown and I'm a qualified Complementary Therapist working in Gillygate, York and from my practice in Thorganby, York UK. I am fully trained and registered with each of the therapies’ regulating bodies. I am also a member of ‘Embody’ who register professional therapists. These bodies require me to develop my knowledge and skills so I attend several courses each year.

Background and Training Background

I worked as an NHS pharmacy technician for many years, but had for a long time taken an interest in complementary therapies. After having Reflexology myself for stress related health issues and finding how effective it was I decided I would like a change of direction so I trained in Reflexology and became a therapist! As my interest grew, one therapy led to another and then, having pets of my own, I became interested in treating animals. I find it greatly satisfying helping people and animals get well.

Training

Reflexology:
Trained with the British School of Reflexology, qualifying in February 2000. Completed a further two courses tailored for people with Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I have experience of working with MS clients as I provide cover for holidays at ‘Woodlands’, the MS respite centre in York. Completed a course in Vertical Reflexology. Attended two of Tony Porter's Advanced Reflexology training seminars.

Bowen:
Qualified in May 2002 with Bowtech. In June 2003 completed a course in Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST) - this is an advanced form of Bowen based on Tom Bowen’s later work. In November 2006 completed a course on ‘Fascia Bowen’ aimed at children with special needs, e.g. cerebral palsy, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, dyspraxia etc. October 2008 completed an NST update course on the latest developments, as the technique is continually evolving.

Daoyin Tao:
This is a Chinese face, neck and shoulder massage. Qualified in May 2004 with Anna-Louise Haigh who originated the therapy. Went on to complete a Daoyin Tao ‘back bliss’ massage master class and a Chinese ‘pulse and tongue’ diagnosis master class.

Emmett Technique:
I trained with Ross Emmett who came over from Australia in 2007 to teach his technique for the first time in the UK.
I completed all 6 modules by April 2008.

The Canine Bowen Technique (CBT)
I trained with The European Guild of Canine Bowen Therapists (ECGBT) run by Sally and Ron Askew, qualifying in March 2008.

Hopi Ear Candles:
I completed this informative course in July 2008.
