Bowen Technique in YorkAs a qualified and experienced complementary therapist, I provide Bowen Technique treatment from my practice in Gillygate, York and from my practice in Thorganby, York UK.
What is Bowen Technique?Bowen Technique is a treatment that enables the body to reset and heal itself, often resulting in pain relief and a feeling of energy; there is no manipulation used. The Bowen practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points on the body to make small, gentle, rolling movements over muscles and ligaments. The aim is to disturb the muscles and soft tissue. This is interspersed with periods of rest of about 2 minutes. This allows the body to absorb the moves and make subtle adjustments. The healing process is initiated, causing the body to re-align itself, thus relieving tension and reducing pain. What conditions can Bowen Technique help?Bowen Technique is very effective for muscular-skeletal problems but can also help a wide range of other conditions such as headaches and migraines, digestive disorders, respiratory problems, sciatica, pregnancy and fertility problems. What does a Bowen Technique treatment involve? On your first visit a detailed medical history will be taken. This is entirely confidential and no details are stored on a computer. A Bowen Technique session involves the recipient lying on a couch while the therapist performs the moves on the body. This can be done through light clothing, but it is more helpful to work on bare skin. The recipient will be covered with a blanket. There is no manipulation used and no force is needed. How long will each treatment take?A Bowen Technique session lasts 30 to 45 minutes depending on the problem, with an additional 15 minutes consultation during the first session. How many sessions will I need?Three or four sessions may be enough depending on the nature of the problem. It may take more but it may take less. How much will each Bowen Technique session cost?A session costs £30.
