Reflexology in Thorganby York

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient healing art going back thousands of years. There is evidence to show that therapeutic foot massage has been practised by a variety of cultures. Reflexology uses reflexes on the feet or hands to treat the body’s organs, structures and functions. By applying pressure to these reflexes in a precise and systematic way it is possible for a reflexologist to encourage a subtle healing effect within the body.

Reflexology may help people to cope on a physical, mental and emotional level by possibly encouraging the body to work naturally to restore its own balance.

Vertical Reflexology, which I practise alongside Reflexology, involves the recipient standing up while the top of their foot is worked. It is thought this accesses the reflexes at a deeper level.

We do not claim to cure or diagnose, nor do we alter medication.

What Conditions Might Reflexology Help?

Reflexology may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions which incudes migraine, sinus problems, hormonal imbalance, back problems, digestive complaints, chest conditions, circulatory conditions, and urinary problems, to name but a few.

Many people use Reflexology to relax the mind and body and to counteract stress and tension.

What does a Reflexology treatment involve?

On your first visit a detailed medical history will be taken. This is entirely confidential and no details are stored on a computer. I will then begin to work on your feet, noting any problem areas. I will often start with a few minutes of Vertical Reflexology as this combined with conventional reflexology may enhance the whole treatment. Don’t worry if your feet are ticklish as reflexology uses firm pressure so doesn’t tickle. The session should relax you and may stimulate the body's own healing.

How long will each Reflexology treatment take?

A session lasts about 50 minutes with an additional 15 minutes consultation during the first session.

How many session will I need?

We usually advise a course of 6 treatments on a weekly basis as reflexology is cumulative. This may vary according to the person, their condition and lifestyle.

How much will each Reflexology session cost?

A Reflexology session costs £30.
